The Government of the City of Buenos Aires announced this Monday that it will guarantee accommodation for the residents affected by the collapse of the “Estación Buenos Aires” housing complex in the Parque Patricios neighborhood beyond Wednesday. The affected individuals were to remain hosted until March 11, but according to the official statement accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the administration of Head of Government Jorge Macri confirmed that it will extend this benefit. On the same day, the company will present a technical report regarding the future plan of works to recover the damaged structure after the collapse of a slab belonging to the underground parking, where several cars were left under the rubble. Tenants and owners were authorized to enter the apartments to retrieve valuable items, accompanied by City firefighters. Last Friday, the Contraventional and Misdemeanor Prosecutor's Office No. 31 allowed tenants and owners to enter their homes in a controlled manner on Monday to retrieve their important personal belongings following a request. In this way, a special operation was organized for neighbors to be able to enter their apartments. It was indicated that the fire department personnel cannot enter the homes, but will only accompany them to the door. The Logistics area of the Undersecretariat of Emergencies installed lighting towers in the perimeter of the affected buildings. Once personal belongings have been removed, the corresponding report will be drawn up. In the days following the collapse, the Buenos Aires Police deployed more than 100 personnel, assigned 24 hours a day, to protect the property of those affected and established a perimeter. There is also personnel from the Auxiliary Guard, Civil Defense, and Prevention Agents at the site.
